I got the farmer’s omelette and really enjoyed it. The quality rivalled the French Way, but for only $8 (including hashbrowns and toast), it was much more wallet-satisfying. It had real cheddar cheese and real (read: uncanned) mushrooms, which I really appreciated. One member of our party got the baked eggs, and with all the cheese on top it resembled a lasagna.
To complement the meal, excellent apple strawberry jam and Frank’s hot sauce in individual ramekins. (Was that Jam home made? We should have asked. Leif)
The atmosphere, though unchanged from Carnegie’s, was very homey and welcoming. I loved the piano in the corner (unused though it may be) and the cool, local art on the walls. The whole place was decked out in well-worn wood and quirky little signs everywhere.
I’m glad that Al Friend found another venue for his breakfast compulsion. The Yellow Dog was excellent, and with their huge lunch and dinner menu, they are definitely worth checking out at any time of day. They’ve also been known to draw a mean pint, with many Half Pints options on tap.
