We had two waitresses serving the lot of us, and it was obviously a grueling job as there were more than a few mistakes… toast came in no shade darker than ‘just past raw’ except in my case where I got the wrong kind of bread and it took 15 minutes to bring me the correct order, which was toasted thoroughly. There were a few murmurs of eggs being underdone and even a case of shell-discovery.
My breakfast eggs were cooked all the way through, and everyone else's orders came out pretty quickly.

Stay with me here, as there are good things to be said. The big upside of the meal for me was the toast even though I had to wait for it. Not so good for others, and yes, I had to wait a good tick for it, but the multigrain bread was delicious and thick. So thick in fact, that when plopped my egg on top of it as I always do, not a drop of yolk was spilled at all. It was all captured by the toast and none ran through or over the edges. Amazing.
The coffee was pretty bland, but fully drinkable and our cups were refilled plenty of times.
The décor of MPPP is quite plain. The display of pies and cakes is nice, but the walls are bare and yellowey-beige; entirely unexciting. All in all, the service was good, the food was average with a side of terrible and the place itself is ultimately unattractive. So why can’t I give it a bad grade? Well, the breakfasts that were prepared properly were good. Better than say, The Nook, but nowhere near their portion sizes. It’s difficult to find a breakfast for $5 though. So, given the price, quality, service and pie appeal, I’d recommend it in the end (but not without a quick reminder that the Black Sheep Diner does it sooooo much better).
Admittedly, this was a challenging one to rate.

My Place Pie Place
103-912 Portage Ave
Hours of operation:
Mon - Fri 7 AM - 8 PM
Sat - Sun 9 AM - 5 PM
I remember My Place Pie Place being better, but perhaps I’ve developed a more well-rounded view of breakfast.
That being said, MPPP (or ‘M to the Trip-P’ as you youngsters call it or My Pie Your Face as the jokers do) is still a pretty good place to go for breakfast. It’s quite adorable, all tucked away in a mini-mall. I usually mistake it for a bridal boutique while going by it. The name is misleading - as well as making you spit while you say it - most people don’t realize you can get breakfast here.
