Our server was very efficient. Our coffees were refilled promptly and the solitary breakfast beer came swiftly. She brought coffee in small cups which was suitable as the coffee wasn’t that good. It came from the underground reservoir for sure, but the siphon may have been at the fresher end that day.
Our food was quite good. The ‘big breakfast’ was merely one more egg and a shitload more bacon, which is always in high favour. The eggs were made perfect to order, the bacon was tasty and cooked perfectly and the potatoes were yellow, slightly greasy and delicious. The toast was a good, standard rye with a slice of orange on the side.
All in all, the food was good, the décor pleasing and the service efficient. Only big fault, really, was the lackluster coffee. I wish the PTFR were closer to downtown, I would eat there more often.

The Park Tower Family Restaurant (PTFR) is in an easy-to-miss corner of a strip mall in St. James, near the Assiniboine Park. The namesake is up the street, the Park Towers. Why the name similarities, I don’t know. The restaurant looks from the front like it could be a private medical practice.
The PTFR is a Greek restaurant, and I know that solely from the generic Greek pictures on the walls. Those exact pictures appear in other restaurants in town, notably Pete’s Place on Main and Nikos on Corydon. Maybe the pictures are just so reminiscent of Greece, I don’t know. The pictures were complemented by a rather tasteful décor. The ceiling had three giant triangles hanging from it, à la the floating squares in Partner’s Deli at City Hall. The PTFR’s dark green and purple colour motif was creative and pleasing to the eye. The main room had a large partition which I think might be left over from a renovation, making the restaurant a lot bigger than it seems from outside.
