Andrew look
s happy. I look like an idiot. Leif

The food was good for the most part. My eggs came nicely over-easy, but Leif’s standard over-hard came over-easy as well. I ordered the kolbasa (another derivative spelling) and was pleased with the four large hunks of garlic sausage presented. Leif got three strips of somewhat dry, but still good bacon. The toast was excellent thick-sliced rye, but the hash browns left a bit to be desired. It seemed like they were deep-fried an hour ago and were kept warm since then. They looked like they should have been crispy, but were disappointingly soft slices of potato. One breakfaster had their potato pancakes, and spent more energy trying to cut them than she got from eating them.

This brings me to an important point: this is a Chinese restaurant. They’re not used to a large audience for breakfast. I’m not sure how much of a staple in Chinese culture the potato is, but from today I am inclined to say ‘not much’. It took a few requests to get some hot sauce, but our coffees were refilled many times. It was fairly generic coffee, but on the good side.

Ozzie’s is good for what it is: a hotel/restaurant with confusing heritage. Excellent for the morning after. The food wasn’t perfect, nor the service but it’s right in the middle of Osborne Village, easy trudging distance for many.

Ozzie’s (the collective name for the bar, restaurant and hotel) is a staple in The Village. Just about everybody’s been to the bar to see some band, and had a hung over breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. It won’t disappoint you if that’s what you’re looking for.

The décor of the place has not changed since I was here last, when it was still called 2 Sisters (or was it 3?). The walls are stucco, with one of them being outright brick-and-sloppy-mortar. This gives it the feeling that you’re actually looking at it from the outside, but that’s simply not the case. The booths are upholstered in green pleather with decent wooden tables. Fake plants hang around the perimeter of the walls and generic art is plentiful. Chinese lanterns (the only decoration indicating the culture) dangle in the windows. The Coors Light clock fit in perfect with the off-the-bar atmosphere.
