The legislature itself is a gorgeous, eclectic building filled with marble taste. The cafeteria seems to have been constructed in the mid-1980’s and has had no desire to progress from there. Some paintings on the walls but everything about the place is immediately forgettable. There are some nice flowers on the tables though.

The breakfast there is served cafeteria-style, which is to say it is not ‘served’ at all. You have to get your own coffee and pick up your own plate. A gentle holler is given when your food is ready.

The eggs were as eggs should be; it’s terribly difficult to mess them up. Three strips of bacon adorned the deep-fried potatoes and multi-grain bread. The food was decent enough, but ultimately forgettable just like the décor.

The atmosphere is cheesy, not charming. The food is adequate and the service is non-existent. If you work out of the Legislature, I suggest you bring a bag lunch and eat it on the steps.

Well, we thought it would be interesting to see how the politicians eat here in Winnipeg. If the state of the province is based on the atmosphere they eat their lunch in, we’re in some trouble.
