The service was fast and friendly. Well, not too fast. We definitely noticed it took a moment or two longer than most cafeterias, but those were moments well spent on prep. Everything looked great on our plates. The potatoes were pleasantly crispy and had some onions fried with them. Fried, not deep fried. This is what makes the Jackpot cafeteria stand out - the lack of deep-frying. They had multigrain toast which was a tasty surprise. The four strips of bacon were a bit salty, but good. The sausages came in McDonald’s-like patties which were disappointing, but I never have high expectations for breakfast sausages. The eggs were standard and made to order. The coffee came from typical cafeteria carafes. Inoffensive, unexciting brews.
Jackpot Café’s breakfast was nothing dazzling, but similarly it was not disappointing. Lucky you if you work in the Ceridian building because you have a solid place to eat. If not, Jackpot is worth checking out at least once.

This basement cafeteria is a little hard to find (look for it in Basement North), but offers up a solid breakfast. The name comes from the fact that the Ceridian building is home to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

The cook recognized us as non-building employees and cheerfully asked where we were from. He looked a bit surprised when we said we lived in the area; even though Jackpot is open to the public, the majority of the business obviously comes from within.

More self serve coffee. Sigh.
