Centre Place Café
(in the Winnipeg Convention Centre)
375 York Avenue
Breakfast Feature eggy muffin
$6.40 with coffee
This cafeteria on the second floor of the Convention Centre is a terrible place for people from out of town to have to eat at while conventioneering. This shouldn’t be the ambassador for our business tourists.
The surly cook took our orders and produced a surly breakfast. The whole thing was ready in about a minute and a half; the cook was basically a microwave on legs.
The deep-fried taters were just terrible even though the skins were on, and the breakfast resembled an Egg McMuffin more than it did a Special. Broken-yolk The egg’s yolk was broken but thankfully had real cheese on top.
Still, it was entirely ketchup-necessary. The coffee was just wretched, but I’m not sure how ketchup would have affected it. This monstrosity was topped off by the world’s tiniest shave of watermelon. Judging by the laser-thinness of the slice, they need the watermelon to last 20 years.
Go somewhere else, I implore you. Go to the Alexis Grill, go to the Woodsworth building. Go get a hotdog on the street. Just don’t subject yourself to the Centre Place Café.
For sale; a card with one stamp.
